Why a hook is not a headline

A headline describes the pin. A hook creates a reason to stop. “Meal prep ideas” describes; “I prepped a week of dinners in 40 minutes” creates a gap someone wants closed. Both can live on the same pin — the title carries the keyword, the hook carries the stop.

The shapes that keep working

Specific numbers, a surprising constraint, a mistake being corrected, and a before/after. They work because each one promises something concrete. Vague enthusiasm (“amazing meal prep tips!”) promises nothing and reads as an advert.

How to test them

Do not mix two hooks on one pin. Make the same design with two different first lines, publish both, and compare saves after a week. Saves are the cleanest signal because they mean someone wants it later.

How to use Hook Formula Generator

  1. Type your topic.
  2. Pick the two or three hooks that fit your pin.
  3. Test them across separate pins and keep the winner.
Questions

Hook Formula Generator FAQ

Should the hook be in the title or the image?

The image, if it fits. Text on the pin is seen before the title in the feed.

How long should a hook be?

Under 60 characters so it survives the feed cut.

Can a hook hurt SEO?

Only if it replaces the keyword. Keep the keyword in the title and the hook on the image.
